Second Battle of Moytura

The Quest For Spiritual Sovereignty

The Second Battle of Moytura, also known in gaelic as Cath Maige Tuired, is a pivotal event in Irish mythology that chronicles the epic conflict between the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Fomorians for control of Ireland. Set amongst a mystical landscape shrouded in legend and lore, this mythic battle is recounted in the ancient texts of Irish mythology, including the Lebor Gabála Érenn (Book of Invasions) and the Táin Bó Cúailnge (Cattle Raid of Cooley). According to myth, the Tuatha Dé Danann, a race of divine beings associated with magic and the supernatural, sought to establish their dominion over Ireland.

However, their ambitions were challenged by the Fomorians, who were said to have ruled Ireland before them.Led by the formidable king Balor of the Evil Eye, the Fomorians were powerful adversaries, feared for their cruelty and tyranny. Lugh, the god of light and skill, and Nuada, the king of the Tuatha Dé Danann, played pivotal roles in the outcome of the battle, leading their people to victory against the forces of darkness.

“from Findias was brought the sword of Nuadhu. No one ever escaped from it once it was drawn from its deadly sheath, and no one could resist it”.
